Ahmedabad-based Troikaa Pharmaceuticals is ready to set up its third plant in Gujarat. The company is also preparing to enter the highly regulated market of the western countries including Europe, US and Canada.

Talking to Business Standard, Ketan Patel, managing director of the company, said,"We are all set to enter the regulated market of western countries by mid 2007." At present, the company has its presence in the unregulated markets.

Troikaa has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Thol near Ahmedabad. The company manufactures critical care injectables, tables and topical preparations. In May 2006, the company commissioned its second plant at Dehra Dun, Uttaranchal.

As part of its foray into the regulated market, the company is scaling up the production capacity of injectables . "We are strong in injectable products and our major product for the regulated market will also be that. Hence, we are scaling up its production capacity," Patel added.

The company's Dehra Dun plant produces injectables, tablets and capsules as per the World Health Organisation for following good manufacturing practices (GMP) norms. These norms are compatible with the western countries standards. The Dehra Dun plant will also be used for exporting the products.

"Our third plant will also come up at Thol," Patel added. The third plant will only produce injectables and will have three production lines.

However, the company is yet to acquire land for its third plant. The company plans to acquire 100,000 sq metre of land at Thol of which the built-up area will be 15,000 sq metre.

"The construction work on the third plant will start from mid-2007," Patel added. The company's current turnover is Rs 75 crore and is expected to increase after its foray into the regulated market.
