A media release issued today said both parties would work to refresh CNN IBN and provide a credible, non-partisan service that will deliver the latest news on local affairs and an Indian perspective to international developments.
Announcing the extension, Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman, Network18 said the two companies would, in their second term of collaboration, aim to present a brand new CNN IBN that will bring news with greater speed, accuracy, clarity and credibility and keep the viewers tuned in to the latest news and developments much ahead of others.

He added that that the two firms also intend to cut through the noise and clutter that is currently present in the Indian television news space and offer best practices of journalism that will lead to better understanding of issues.
Independent Media Trust (IMT)-owned TV18 had earlier decided to conclude its 10-year licensing arrangement with Turner’s CNN in January 2016. IMT is owned by Reliance Industries. The two brands — CNN and TV18’s IBN — had entered the agreement in 2005, giving rise to the network’s English news channel, CNN-IBN.
