The company expects to make a turnaround during the next fiscal when it plans to launch three two-wheelers and 4-stroke and 2-stroke three-wheelers.
"There has been a slump in the two-wheeler market due to lack of availability of vehicle financing specially in B and C towns. Our motorcycle sales are expected to touch seven lakh units in the current fiscal when compared with nine lakh units in 2006-07. Scooter and moped sales will compensate for it," Venu Srinivasan, chairman, TVS Motors, told reporters here.
He said the company expects to close the current fiscal at Rs 3,700 crore when compared with Rs 3,860 crore in 2006-07.
TVS Motor Company is planning a slew of launches to turn around its fortunes starting with the 125 cc bike Flame, which would be available across the country by February.
It would also introduce a new scooter and a new variant of its premium bike Apache during 08-09.
The company would launch its 2-stroke three-wheelers by end of this month followed by 4-stroke three-wheelers by April.
