TVS eyes 40% market share in 150cc segment

TVS Motor Company's soon to be launched 150cc bike 'Apache' is expected to capture 40 per cent market share in the 150 cc segment by the third month of its launch, claims Tushar Wakandar, area manager of TVS motor company.
 
The company announced nine winners for its 'Safar lakhong ka' lucky draw offer at a press meet on Wednesday.
 
The company had offered the scheme during Diwali last year and customers who bought TVS vechiles during that period are eligible for the draw.
 
The winners were selected from about 14,000 contestants.
 
Commenting on the launch of Apache he told Business Standard, "Our target is to sell 1.8 lakh vechiles in the first year and we will be able to capture 40 per cent market in the 150cc segment by the third month of Apache's launch."
 
He also informed that TVS will be rolling out three new bikes in the next one year 'to capture as much market as possible'.
 
Apache was launched in Auto Expo 2006.
 
Its gives an average of 55 kml and has won five awards for various categories.
 
Apache is completely built on indigenous technology, Tushar added.
 
It will be available in Gujarat before the end of next month.
 
The company has no plans to come up with any scooter in the near future, Tushar informed.
 
He said that the company is happy with the performance of TVS Scooty and had come up with a modified model three months ago.
 
Scooty currently has a market share of 17 per cent in the scooter segment, he said.
