Domestic two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Company is looking to consolidate its position in the Uttar Pradesh scooter market, which has been growing consistently over the years.
The market is estimated at 10,000 units per month.
“We have a share of 27 per cent in the state scooter market, which we aim to increase to 37 per cent by March 2011,” TVS area manager Ajay Gupta said.
Honda is the market leader in the scooter segment with more than 50 per cent.
Besides, the company is planning to increase its dealership network from 80 to 95 in the current financial year.
The scooter market, which witnessed a slump some years before, has witnessed a steady revival in demand, especially due to the rising number of female customers and the concept of unisex scooters with high powered engines.
TVS, on Thursday launched its first metal-bodied 110 cc scooter, Wego, in Uttar Pradesh.
