TVS Motor today stregthed its scooter portfolio by launching new TVS WEGO. The company said that it has incorporated several improvements in the engine of the new TVS WEGO, which was launched today.
Company claims that at peak power, TVS WEGO's 110 cc engine delivers 8 BHP @7500 rpm and will give a mileage of 62 kmpl. The new 2014 TVS WEGO targeted at young urban couple and priced at Rs 46,410 ex-Delhi.
The only, all metal bodied scooter in India as claimed by the company, TVS WEGO USP is style, stablity, manoeuvrablity, power and mileage.
The new features of the product include tubleless tyres, parking brakes and TVS patented econometer.
For TVS, in 2013-14 Motorcycle sales increased to 7.86 lakh units, from 7.56 lakh units, a year ago. Scooters sales during the period under review increased from 4.46 lakh units for the year ended March 2013 to 4.74 lakh units in the year ended March 2014.
In 2013-14, total scooter market stood at 3.6 million units. The market leader continued to be Honda (52.8 %), followed by Hero (19.2 %) and TVS Motor (13 %). In 2011-12, TVS Motor lost the second place to Hero.
