TVS Motor today said it had re-launched the Twin Spark Plug ‘Flame’ motorcycle after getting all necessary clearances in accordance with law. It may be recalled that the country’s third-largest motor cycle company, in terms of sales, got into legal trouble with Bajaj Auto for using this technology, which the latter said was its patented one.
In a release today, TVS Motor said the executive segment motorcycle was launched under the brand TVS Flame DS 125, and is propelled by a three-valve CC-VTi technology, fired by twin spark plugs. Developed with AVL Austria, this 125 cc three-valve engine is claimed to deliver superior performance, while simultaneously enhancing low and mid-range power and delivering high fuel efficiency.
TVS Flame DS 125, according to TVS Motor, is the only motorcycle in the country to have a unique combination of three valves and two spark plugs. It is priced at Rs 49,200 ex-showroom.
After the patent dispute with Bajaj Auto, the matter went from the Madras High Court to the Supreme Court. Which, in September, agreed that there was no legal infringement by TVS.
