TVS Motor's two-wheeler sales rise 28% in Apr

Chennai-based TVS Motor Company today reported a 27.91 per cent increase in its total two- wheeler sales in April at 1,44,689 units.

The company had sold 1,13,119 units in the corresponding month last year, TVS Motor Company said in a statement.

Motorcycle sales of the company during the last month rose by 23.98 per cent to 66,000 units from 53,235 units in the year-ago period, it added.

The domestic two-wheeler sales in April 2010 stood at 1,25,471 units, up 21.83 per cent over 1,02,985 units in the same month in 2009.
    
"During the month, TVS Wego, the company's metal bodied scooter with unisex styling was launched in Pune and Nagpur. The product has received favourable response among customers and will be made available across the country over the next two months," the statement said.
    
The company said its exports during the month rose sharply by 89.64 per cent at 19,218 units as against 10,134 units in April 2009.
   
Total three-wheeler sales also soared over three-fold to 2,483 units in last month from 706 units in the corresponding month of 2009, the statement said.
