TVS Motor company expects to sell 1.4 million two -wheelers during the current financial year, as compared to a total sales of two wheelers 9.4 vehicles in 2004-05. |
Addressing the media, Prasad Narasimhan, vice-president (marketing), TVS Motor, said that the company was consolidating its existing brands StaR, Victor and Scooty Pep and plans to sell about 4 lakh vehicles under the brand StaR and 3.3 lakh Victors, about 1.2 lakh Centras and 3 lakh Scootys. |

R Dilip, vice-president, TVS Motor Company, said that the StaR brand which was launched a year ago was selling about 30,000 units every month. This will be scaled up by another 20,000 units with the launch of its StaR City, a 100 cc four-storke motorcycle. |

"We plan to launch a motorcycle in the 150 cc segment by the end 2005 or early 2006. It may be launched as a variant of Fiero or it will be christened with new brand name," said Narasimhan. |

The overall two-wheeler market in India is estimated at 5.72 lakh a month of which South India contributes about 1.3 lakh vehicles sales every month. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures data, about 6.2 million two-wheelers were sold in the country last year. |
