TVS Motors sales cross 1 lakh, reach 53,215 units

TVS Motor Company sold 1.01 lakh two-wheelers in July 2005, 1.13 per cent more than the one lakh two-wheelers sold in the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
Motorcycle sales, the company's mainstay, in July 2005 stood at 53,215 units as compared to 52,958 units in July 2004, an increase by 0.48 per cent.
 
In the second quarter of the current year, the company is set to introduce a new 125 cc variant of Victor and one of its entry-level brand StaR. Victor and StaR are the key brands in the company's portfolio.
 
TVS sells about 28,000 units of StaR per month on an average, and about 27,000 units of Centra and Victor in a month.
 
In the current year, the company stated that its aim was to capture 18 per cent marketshare in the motorcycle market from its current level of 13.7 per cent.
 
In July 2005, the company sold 24,244 units (22,501 units) of TVS Scooty, the scooterette. The brand recently kicked off an exclusive scholarship programme for girls between the age of 14 and 18 in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, a company release said.
 
Moped sales in July 2005 stood at 23,900 units (24,765 units). The company exported 9,012 units in July 2005.
