TVS records 42% growth in two wheeler sales

The city-based vehicle manufacturer TVS today reported 42 per cent growth in sales in December 2010 at 1,71,790 units.

The company registered sales of 1,20,913 units in the same month of previous year, TVS Motor said in a statement.

In the two-wheeler segment, the company sales jumped by 41 per cent by selling 1,68,359 units in December 2010 as against 1,19,701 units in the same period of the previous year.

It witnessed 94 per cent growth in its scooter sales, with 41,804 units sold in December this year as against 21,566 units reported in the year-ago period.

Sale of Motorcycle grew by 24 per cent with 61,414 units sold in December 2010 as against 49,560 units in December 2009.

Besides, the total sales of the company for the period between April to December 2010 stood at 15,12,896 units.

In the three-wheeler segment, the company registered 219 per cent growth in its cumulative sales from April-December 2010.

"The cumulative three-wheeler sales for the period April 2010 to December 2010 stood at 27,794 units as against 8,707 units registering a growth of 219 per cent", TVS Motor Company said in a statement here.

The total two-wheeler sales for the period April 2010 to December 2010 grew by 34 per cent with sales at 14,85,102 units as against 11,09,054 units in the same period of previous year.

The company's domestic sales grew by 46 per cent with 1,49,357 units sold in December 2010 as against 1,02,479 units in December 2009.

On the exports front, the company sold 19,002 units on its two-wheelers in December 2010 as against 17,222 units registered in December 2009, the release added.
