R Dinesh, the executive director, TVS & Sons, said that the company had merged its car service business - TVS Xpresss, the used car business - TVS Value Cars, and its emergency road care service - TVS Care, to form My TVS. "From a customer point of view it did not make sense for them to interact with three different entities. All these services are complementary and hence the decision to merge them," Dinesh said. |
Now, the three services will be branded as My TVS 24 x 7 Emergency Services, My TVS All Car Service, and My TVS Quality Used Cars. |
"These new initiatives mark a shift in the company's customer centric thinking. With our core competence in spare parts distribution and our rich experience in the automotive services we are confident of giving our customers superior relationship experience through integrated car services under the 'My TVS' brand." |
The emergency services offering, which is available only in Tamil Nadu at present, has 103 authorised service providers in the state. The service providers are trained by TVS and are equipped to handle all minor emergencies efficiently. The first individual membership card was handed over to R Seshasayee, the managing director of Ashok Leyland. |
The emergency services will be available to the consumer as a subscription based service with three types of product offerings - silver, gold and platinum. Silver card holders would be eligible for emergency assistance only within Chennai. Gold and Platinum card consumers are eligible for assistance in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and Karaikal. |
The company also announced that Sundaram Finance had purchased 5000 cards for its customers, while Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company had purchased 1000 cards. |
The car service business expects to add another 28 outlets by March 2004 through the franchisee mode in Tamil Nadu, and Kerala and services about 3000 cars per month. |
