Automotive components' supplier TVS and Sons has charted out measures to rope in the government and NGOs to give a push to skills development in Kerala. The company plans to set up a training school in this regard in the state. |
"We have initiated steps to take skills development forward and will be discussing this with the Kerala government and various NGOs in the state," R Dinesh, executive director, TVS and Sons, said. |

The company is looking at public-partnership model to give a leg up to its skills development initiative. "We would like to start a training school for skills development in the state in the near future, if plans work out well," he said. |

According to him, TVS and Sons employs around 2,500 people spread across 30 locations in the state. Of the Rs 5,000 crore turnover registered last year, Kerala accounted for 30 per cent. The company aims to post further growth this year, he added. |

According to Dinesh, the company has also initiated efforts at corporate social responsibility in its bid to reach out to the needy sections. As part of its CSR initiatives, the company distributed 50 wheel chairs for the differently abled across Kerala. While the Cheshire Home inmates at Thiruvananthapuram got 38 wheel chairs, another 12 were handed over to the Kozhikode-based Association for Welfare of the Handicapped. "Such activities are encouraged wherever our organization is present," Dinesh added. |
