Chennai-based auto maker TVS Motor Co today reported 34 per cent jump in two-wheeler sales in January at 1,25,578 units against 93,729 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales grew 37 per cent at 109,504 units during the month as compared with 79,729 units in the same month a year ago, the company said in a statement.
Motorcycle sales stood at 54,698 units, as against 43,990 units in January 2009, up 24 per cent, it added.
The company said its scooter sales grew by 43 per cent, at 25,509 units when compared to 17,832 units in the corresponding month last year.
Exports during the month grew 15 per cent at 16,074 units as against 14,000 units in same month last year.
The company's three-wheelers sales were up at 1,710 units in January 2010 as against 466 units in the same month last year
The cumulative two-wheeler sales for April-January period were 1,234,632 units against 1,100,453 units in the comparable period of the previous year, up 12 per cent, it said.
For three-wheelers, sales in April-January period were at 10,417 units, the company said without disclosing the comparable figures for the previous fiscal.
