Two coal-fired power units having production capacity of 210 MW each in Jharsuguda districts have stopped operation due to a failure in the ash pipe line, officials said.
Both these units are located at Banharpali area of the district and belong to Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC).
“There was some problem in pumping out ash at the pipeline, which is common for the two units. The repair work is going on and we will be back to production within 48 hours,” said Venkatachalam Kuppusamy, managing director, OPGC.
These units have been operating since 1995. It may be noted that OPGC had to shut down production of one of the unit for a day last year due to a technical snag.
