The two-wheeler market is projected to grow in Uttar Pradesh (UP) during the current financial year due to good rains this year and consequent improvement in farm economy.
Over the last two years, the growth in the 2-wheeler industry had been almost flat in UP due to sub-optimal rainfall, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) senior VP (sales and marketing) Yadvinder Singh Guleria told Business Standard here.
"Since, the yield and the quality of agricultural production in UP is projected to be good this year due to good monsoon, we are looking at revival of demand in the market for 2-wheelers," he added.
Despite a 15 per cent decline in UP two-wheeler market, Honda sales have already grown 6 per cent to over 1,00,000 units.
"The combined markets of UP and central India clock the highest sales during Dhanteras and Diwali," Guleria informed.
Meanwhile, Honda is targetting to increase its footprint in UP by launching more dealerships, touch points and service centres.
