Uma Precision plans Rs 50 cr expansion

Uma Precision Ltd, the Pune-based precision engineering solution company, plans to expand its capacities and manufacturing process.The company will invest about Rs 50 crore for the purpose.
 
The expansion will be carried out at the company's production facilities at Pune, Ahmednagar(Maharashtra) and Hosur (Karnataka).
 
It includes manufacturing high-end electrical parts to cater to the growing domestic and international demand.
 
"The expansion has already started and pilot projects will begin from July. The commercial production of high-end electrical parts is expected to start by October 2006," said Rajendra Kankaria, managing director.
 
"At present, the company is supplying components to Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Piaggio, Carraro and Larson and Toubro. Its international buyers include Emerson Electric, Eaton Corporation and Honeywell. The company is single source supplier of around 400 components to the auto companies," he added.
 
"The export may rise to Rs 20 crore this fiscal compared with Rs 7 crore last fiscal. At present, we are exporting to the US, UK and Dubai. Domestic demand is also growing. We have adopted the total productivity maintenance (TPM) system to become globally competitive," he said.
 
The company also plans to implement multi-station part forming project (MPP), metal injection moulding (MIM), one stop CNC machining shop and surface treatment project (STP).
