Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the US-based global player in product-safety testing and certification, has announced plans to expand its presence in India by over 200 per cent this year. This increased investment is both in people and for a 15,000 sq ft facility in Bangalore. |
According to the company, the focus of the expansion will be on the transaction processing operations, which will support the growing demand for high-level support on technical data management. |

The expanded transaction centre will help service the 70,000 clients of UL worldwide and will be the largest transaction centre of UL. This centre will be a key component in UL's ability to use Bangalore as a hub for New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia. |

UL also announced the ramping up of their product safety testing facility in India to include testing for medical equipment, measuring instruments, industrial controllers and power distribution components. |

Currently, the UL product testing facility in Bangalore tests products in the lighting category as well as IT equipment and appliances. |
