Each ‘micro distributor’ would cater to areas with a population of less than 10,000 inhabitants, facilitating faster activation, recharge and other services.
“We are confident this concept would help in further cutting service time and improving availability of services by 30 per cent,” Uninor Chief Operating Officer Yogesh Malik said.

While, 10 such micro distributors have already been launched under soft launch, Uninor aims at ramping up the number to almost 45 by the end of September, covering 20 districts in UP (East).
Earlier, the company had under “aggressive expansion” strategy, launched ultra low cost retail outlets ‘Uninor Express Stores’ at tehsil levels. These franchisee stores provided all services under one roof.
In UP (East), the company has about 7.4 million subscribers and over 4,000 base transceiver station, commonly known as cell sites/towers.
Uninor has in recent times ramped up its infrastructure to potentially add six million new customers. “Since June this year, we have added 3,00,000 new subscribers in the circle,” UP (E) Business Head Upanga Dutta said.
Uninor has the highest average time usage in the circle and also lowest per minute cost, which has boosted profitability.
