Presently, Uninor network covers about 55 million population in UP (E), which would be ramped up to 60 million by June 2014 with installation of new base transceiver station (BTS), commonly known as cell sites/towers.
The company would be setting up about 800 new BTS towers to add to its tally of about 4,032.

“The network expansion would help us further consolidate our position in the circle, where we are the third largest private telecom operator,” UP (E) business head Upanga Dutta said.
Uninor serves about 7.85 million subscribers, which corresponds to 10.4 per cent market share in the circle.
It is the youngest telecom operator in UP (E) and had commenced operation in December 2009. The circle comprises 130 million population.
Uninor continues to focus on the mass market with voice and 2G data services. It has successfully implemented a low cost operating model for higher profitability. Besides, Uninor is ramping up retail network with 5,000 new points of sale.
Last year, it had launched ‘micro distributor’ concept in the circle to reach smaller towns and villages. Each ‘micro distributor’ was conceptualised to cater areas with population of less than 10,000 facilitating faster activations, recharges and service to retailers.
