Unions divided over Bajaj Auto strike

Baijanath Rai, general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party-affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh said, "I strongly believe workers should be given equity shares. The employees are providing labour, and if you treat labour as capital, the demand is appropriate." Jibon Roy, general secretary of Coal Workers at Coal India Ltd, differed: "It's utter opportunism. It's a consequence of infiltration of opportunism within the trade union movement." Roy said workers shouldn't claim shares as it could hamper the employer-worker relations.
