United India launches universal health scheme

United India has launched a 'Universal Health Insurance Scheme' with revised premium for the people who are under below poverty line (BPL) at Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu.

The revised scheme offers a 3 tier cover for a premium of Rs 300 every year for individual and Rs 450 every year for a family not exceeding 5 members and Rs 600 every year for family not exceeding 7 members.

The subsidy on premium is Rs 200, Rs 300 and Rs 400 for individual, family of five and family of seven respectively, according to company's release.

Minimum age limit would be 3 months and maximum 70 years for the policy.

Sum insured would be Rs 30,000 for a family every year on a floater basis — per illness / per person / per year restricted to Rs 15,000.

The revised scheme is highly beneficial as it covers the existing illnesses, maternity benefits, coverage for new born upto 3 month, extension of upper age limit to 70 years, loss of earnings protection to the self and spouse during hospitalisation" minister was quoted in the release.
