Agro chemical firm United Phosphorus today posted 4.8% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 212.65 crore in the first quarter ended June 30 on account of better performance of its agro business.
The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 202.91 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Total income of the company increased 10.51% to Rs 2,455.79 crore during the April-June period of this financial year from Rs 2,222.15 crore in the same period last year, the company said in a filing to the BSE.

The business activities of the company are divided into two parts agro activities and non-agro activities.
Profit from the agro activities of the company increased by 44% to Rs 278.43 crore from Rs 193.47 crore in the review period.
However, the company reported fall in the profits from its non-agro activities to Rs 20.79 crore during the first quarter of fiscal 2013-14 from Rs 31.82 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
United Phosphorus have 23 manufacturing sites in total out of which nine are in India, four in France, two in Spain, three in Argentina, one each in UK, Vietnam, Netherlands, Italy and China.
Shares of the company today fell 2.88% to Rs 140.05 a piece in the late afternoon trade on the BSE.
