London-based radio consultancy firm United Radio today announced its foray into the Indian market with the setting up of its office in the capital.

The company provides consultancy services to radio operators on various issues like licensing, music rights, merger and acquisitions, audience and advertising management.

"India has witnessed a phenomenal growth in the past few years, especially private radio stations. We believe the segment will only grow further with the planned Phase III issue of licenses and the government considering opening news, current affairs and sports to the private players," United Radio Director and Senior Partner Paul Chantler told reporters here.

The Indian office will be headed by Sunil Kumar, who has been associated with various radio stations, he added.

United Radio has worked as consultant to Malayalam Manorma's Radio Mango and Radio City for their programming and music strategies in the past.

"We would focus on helping radio stations create new programming formats, setting up newsrooms and providing training as well. We will also provide business planning and support services to the new entrants in the radio business," he said.

United Radio has worked for almost all the large radio companies like BBC and also regulatory authority Ofcom in the UK.
