United Spirits Ltd, the spirits arm of UB Groupowned by Vijay Mallya, has outsourced the information technology and systems functions of the company to Accenture Services Private Ltd in a bid to introduce more data analytical tools in the company.
“In the wake up of rising complexities in decision making with rapid business growth, USL has decided to introduce more data analytics tools for decision-making with the help of Accenture,” Vijay Rekhi, managing director of USL said.
Rekhi told Business Standard that the present contract was an ongoing deal without divulging any financial details..
“Though there are two alternate bidders, we prefer Accenture that has been working with USL for the last one decade and have a knowledge about the company,” Rekhi added.
United Spirits Ltd had reported sales of 100 million cases during FY10. It has emerged as the second largest spirits company dislodging Paris-based Parnod Ricard during this period.
Indian spirits industry is pegged at 236 million cases and USL has a market share of 59 per cent across various segments.
