UTC's Otis elevators and Carrier air conditioners are the biggest contributors to UTC's Indian revenues, he said.
A little over a quarter of our Indian revenues were from exported sales to the US and a majority of the Indian revenue was generated from in-country sales, Chenevert said.
Dwelling further on the prospects of growth of Indian market later at a function organised by industry body Ficci, he said the air conditioning market was expected to double from $1 billion to $2 billion in 2010, a growth of 25% each year.
The refrigeration segment is projected to grow 17% annually from $80 million in 2005 to $180 million in 2010, which represents a great opportunity for Carrier and UTC, he said.
Pratt and Whitney accounted for about a fifth of India's 600 installed commercial engine base and with the rapid air traffic growth, India is a promising market for new engine sales as well as maintenance and overhaul opportunities, he said.
