Unitek ties up with Italian Borri

Unitek Power Systems Limited, a supplier of UPS equipment, has tied-up with Borri, an Italian company engaged in the design and manufacturing of UPS, to introduce power management solutions for all segments in the Indian market.
 
Unitek, which has been active in south India catering to the low end segment, wants to expand its presence all over the country in partnership with Borri.
 
"Unitek-Borri will have a pan India presence in 2008. We have planned a steady strengthening of manufacturing, marketing and service arms," said Unitek Power MD John Zachariah.
 
Borri's R&D expertise is in the field of power conversion. "Borri's experience in semiconductor switching technology is combined with the advanced electronic technology, microprocessor control, software for remote monitoring and supervision. Unitek will compliment this with marketing and service network," he added.
 
Unitek, whose current turnover is Rs 10 crore, plans to increase it to Rs 75 crore in 2008-09. "Borri is also in discussion with us to pick a 10 per cent stake in Unitek", Zachariah added.
 
Borri has proposed to manufacture certain components of its products in India. "India is among the fastest growing economies in the world and there is a huge market for high quality UPS. Industries like automobile, engineering, construction, real estate, retail, shipping and IT need high quality UPS", said Franco Fabbri, General Manager (Asia), Borri.
