Universal forays into construction equipment retail business

Pune-based Universal construction machinery and equipment limited has begun its construction equipment retail business with the launch of "Universal Exclusive Stores" in Patna, Bihar. The company will expand its retail format to cities like Kurukshetra, Surat, Nagpur, Jaipur and Hyderabad in the next two to three months and will launch a total of 35 stores in next five years. The store will house all Universal Brands and will be run by franchisees. These will be opened in the metros as well as tier-II, III cities. These stores will host the entire Universal product portfolio and will offer sales, after sales service and spares.

"Apart from sales, service and spares we are currently also conducting workshops and on-site training camps. We have also launched equipment and buy back schemes in Bihar. We already have 80 per cent market share for concrete equipments and 90 per cent market share for mini dumpers in Bihar. We expect to garner a business of Rs 15-18crore this year from Bihar," said Ranjit More, managing director, Universal Construction Machinery and Equipment ltd speaking on the occasion.
