UPDATE: L&T gets orders worth Rs 1,126 cr

Engineering major Larsen & Toubro today said it has bagged orders worth Rs 1,126 crore for various construction related works.

The company has secured these orders from various vendors, including Sterlite Industries India and Tata Steel, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The engineering firm bagged a project worth Rs 300 crore from Sterlite Industries for the construction of a smelter plant at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, it said.

The scope of the work includes design and engineering and is expected to be completed in 15 months.

Further, it has also been awarded a contract worth Rs 210 crore from Hindalco Industries for construction-related works, which the company expects to execute within 21 months.

Besides, L&T has got two Rs 282-crore contracts from Tata Steel. The first order, worth Rs 100 crore, is for infra related works at Jamshedpur that would be completed in two years. The other one worth Rs 182 crore is for material handling at Tata Steel's Jamshedpur plant.

L&T has also bagged two orders worth Rs 231 crore and Rs 103 crore from the UP Jal Nigam Ltd and Delhi Jal Board, respectively.

The company has secured a contract to design and execute a storm water drainage system in Varanasi in 18 months. It has bagged another contract in the water sector in Delhi for supply system and the work is expected to be completed in 14 months.

Shares of L&T were trading at Rs 1,653 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), down 0.66 per cent from previous close.
