UPPCL okays Rs 2,900 cr for power infra

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) today approved investments of Rs 2,900 crore for building power infrastructure in the state.

"Strengthening power sector is among top priorities of the Chief Minister Mayawati. We have arranged Rs 2,900 crore for establishment of new substations, increasing their power, purchase of new transformers, changing of poles etc," UPPCL Managing Director Navneet Sehgal said in a statement issued here.

He said that of Rs the 2,900 crore, Rs 281 crore would be used to purchase conductors, Rs 672 crore for construction of new substations, Rs 175 crore for increasing load of existing sub stations and for other jobs.

Sehgal said that the state government was committed to providing better services to the consumers and the amount would be utilised for the purpose.
