Uttam Galva Steels (UGSL), the country's second-largest maker of galvanized steel, has decided to raise prices of all its products as a result of rising demand from construction companies and makers of automobiles and home appliances.Prices will be raised by as much as Rs 5,000 per metric tonne for the moment, however rates for long term supply contracts are currently being negotiated.Sales at the nation's biggest carmakers Maruti Udyog and Hyundai Motor India and their local rivals are increasing as rising incomes make cars and home appliances more affordable.The company also supplies Galvanized coils and sheets to the construction industries. Its client list includes Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Tempo, M&M, Kirloskar, Crompton, L&T among others. Galvanized steel accounts for 80% of the company's revenue and cold-rolled steel brings in the rest.
