Uttarakhand has started fresh efforts to invite the Nano project amid reports that Pantnagar is likely to become a satellite assembly centre for the low-cost car. “As of now there are no indications of the Nano mother plant being shifted to Uttarakhand but Pantnagar can become a satellite Nano manufacturing centre,” Chief Secretary I K Pande said.

Pande said he has held fresh talks with Tata Motors officials, who wanted 1,000 acres for setting up its mother plant. “We don’t have 1,000 acres at one place at the moment. But we are trying to provide that much land,” Pande said, adding he would hold another round of talks with the auto-maker in a day or two. Pandey, however, maintained that the government is yet to get an official request or proposal from the Tatas.
