Vadilal Industries, India's second largest ice-cream player, is now planning to have a pan-India presence in mango-pulp and 'Aamras' category within the next two years.
At present we are present mainly in Gujarat and we have recently entered Mumbai region and Rajasthan, said Rajesh Gandhi, managing director, Vadilal Industries. The company is now planning to spread wings across the country. For starters, it will enter the Delhi market, apart from Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Besides being a leading player in the mango-pulp market, Vadilal is perhaps the only player in the branded 'Aamras' segment. It also exports frozen mango pulp and mango milk shake to 45 countries including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Germany among others.
The company processes 10,000 tonnes of mango per annum, and it exports around 5,000 tonnes per annum of mango pulp. It now sells mango pulp under the brand names of 'Alphonso Mango Pulp', 'Kesar Mango Pulp' and 'Totapuri Mango Pulp' across India that are available round the year.
Its products meet Prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) Act specifications. The products are now available at Vadilal outlets as well as retail outlets. The company is focussing on increasing sales through more organised retail chains.
