Pune-based leading construction company, Vascon Engineers, is planning to set up an IT Park here in association with the Nashik-based Sanklecha Constructions.

The IT Park project, which is estimated to cost Rs 130 crore, will be the first private IT Park in Nashik and it will be located at Mumbai Naka area here.

"We are developing 7.5 lakh sq ft IT Park- `V-Tech' at Nashik and our investment in the project will be around Rs 130 crore. The IT Park project will be completed in three phases within the next 2 years. We will develop 2 lakh sq ft area in the first phase that will be completed in the next 12 or 13 months. So far, a non-voice BPO - WNS Global Services has booked 2 lakh sq ft area in the proposed IT Park," said R Vasudevan, chairman, Vascon Engineers.

"The IT Park will include offices with areas ranging from 5,000 sq ft to 8,000 sq ft. Modern elevation with structural gazing, a landscaped garden, ample car parking of one-level in the basement, 100 per cent power backup are the some salient features of the IT Park. Companies can set up call centres, disaster centres, back-office operations or BPOs," he said.

"The development of IT industry in Mumbai and Pune are almost close to the saturation limit. Nashik, which is on the equidistance from both Mumbai and Pune, is emerging as the next IT destination. Nashik has good potentials for the growth of IT industry as the cost of manpower and real estate are both less as compared to Mumbai and Pune. Besides, infrastructure like roads and electricity are not congested. It is now more advantageous for hardcore IT companies, software companies and BPOs to come to Nashik," said Vasudevan.

"We both (Vascon & Sanklecha Constructions) will extend our support to the IT companies coming to Nashik - whether they want to lease the premises or buy it outright. Intelligent infrastructure utilities of telecommunication and broadband Internet connectivity will be provided by major government and private service providers like Reliance, Airtel and BSNL, which already have presence in the city," he added.

"Along with IT Park, we are also planning a residential project here in the next few months and have identified land for the purpose. Besides, we are also looking for new location for the business project here," Vasudevan said, but he didn't divulge more details.

In the last three-four years, Nashik has become the major centre for auto and electric companies.

Besides, it has also emerged as the wine capital of India as half of the total wineries across the country are alone in Nashik district alone. Now, Nashik has already attracted around Rs 3,500 crore fresh industrial investments (new industrial units & expansions), which is likely to be made in the next two years, according to sources.

Besides, IT industry has also started taking momentum here. Around 18 software & BPO companies, including WNS Global Services and Aress Software & Education Technologies, are already operational here while, Tricom India, a non-voiced BPO company is commencing its Nashik unit this (January) month.

Another non-voiced BPO major Datamatics is also planning to set up its unit here. Nashik is expected to attract many IT & BPO companies in the next few years, according to sources.
