Auto-maker VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) today said it recorded a 5.22% jump in total sales to 3,708 units in January, 2012.
The company, which is a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, sold 3,524 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales increased to 3,551 units in January from 3,357 units in the year-ago period, an increase of 5.78%, VECV said in a statement.
Exports, however, fell by 5.99% during the month to 157 units from 167 units in January, 2011.
VECV sales of light commercial vehicles in the Indian market declined marginally to 2,607 units during the month from 2,630 units in the year-ago period.
In contrast, heavy commercial vehicle sales rose by 9.87% to 579 units from 527 units in January, 2011, it said.
