Steel and mining major Vedanta Resources has appointed Mahendra S Mehta, currently the chief executive of its group company Hindustan Zinc, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).He will replace the current CEO, Kuldip K Kaura, who will retire on completion of his term on 30 September 2008, as per a press release issued by the company.Mehta, who joined the Vendanta Group company Sterlite in 2000, worked in the management team of Sterlite's copper business and as head of group Marketing.
