Vitamins, diabetic drugs to cost more

Vitamins and diabetic drugs will get costlier as the drug price regulator National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has increased the prices of various formulation packs.

NPPA has announced the change in the prices of over 250 formulation packs, of which prices have been fixed for 170 formulation packs for the first time by the drug regulator.

It has also reduced the prices of certain antibiotic drugs by up to 20 per cent. It has reduce the prices of popular antibiotic drugs Cloxacillin in combination with Ampicillin Injection to Rs 29.76 from Rs 37.35.

The regulator has increased the prices of insulin, marketed by Shreya Life Science under the brand Lupisulin, in various combinations in 10 ml injections by over nine per cent at around Rs 142.

It has also increased the prices of seven combinations of insulins, marketed by Wockhardt under the brand Wosulin by upto 4.5 per cent.

Besides this, the regulator has also increased the prices of various vitamin tablets by 4.5 per cent. Now a strip of 10 tablets of vitamin in various combinations would cost Rs 7.62 as against the earlier price of Rs 7.32.
