Vizag Steel plant focuses on IT, knowledge management

After registering an excellent track record on all fronts and getting the status of a zero debt company, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) is now aiming at incorporating world's best information technology and knowledge management practices.

A new department called 'Centre for Business Systems (CBS)' was launched on Thursday by B K Panda, the chairman and managing director of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Its main objective is to cater to the strategic and future needs of the company, said a press release.

The Centre for Business Systems will identify the initiatives needed to strike a balance between the two IT and management practices. It will also take up initiatives for ensuring continuous improvement in operational performance and productivity, revitalisation of organisation and the personnel, the release added. CBS will also work as a strategic thinker for business sustenance and help VSP achieve the status of a world-class organisation.
