During the five-month period from April-August, the company produced 1.2 million tonnes of saleable steel, which is also higher as compared with the corresponding period last year.
VSP’s thrust continues to be on ‘value-added steel’ and during this August, the production of ‘value-added steel’ was 214,000 tonnes as compared with 163,000 tonnes in August, 2009, up 31 per cent, a company release said. The production of value-added steel for the April-August, 2010, period increased 4 per cent to touch a million tonnes.
With more value-added steel products, the VSP sold 357,000 tonnes of steel this August, a growth of 32 per cent over July this year and 7 per cent year-on-year.
VSP is all set to commission its first stage of expansion during the current financial year. For the next phase of expansion to 11 million tonnes per annum, the tender has been issued for finalisation of consultant for preparing the feasibility report.
