Vizag Steel sales turnover up 57%

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant posted a 57 per cent growth in sales turnover to Rs 3,733 crore during April-July 2011 as compared with the corresponding period last year. VSP sales turnover stood at Rs 2,372 crore during last year. Saleable steel grew 34 per cent to 828,000 tonnes up to July ’11, as against 618,000 tonne. Value added steel stood at 640,000 tonne (470,000 tonne), representing a growth of 36 per cent while project sales stood at 202,000 tonne (149,000). The company gave major thrust to rural marketing and 10 new rural dealers were appointed during July, taking the total number to 41 during the period under review.
