Vodafone India today said it has partnered Timbre Media to offer radio services on mobile handsets across 18 circles, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mumbai and Delhi.
"Through this service, customers will have access to all the genres of music round-the-clock, ranging from old Hindi films, regional folk songs and ghazals," Vodafone India said in a statement.
Timbre Media was set up in 2010 by former Worldspace Satellite Radio employees to bring back genre-based programming through direct-to-home TV channels and mobile phones, following the shut down of Indian operations in 2009.
Last year, music company Saregama India acquired 10 per cent share in Timbre Media.
Vodafone said users would have access to stations like Radio Falak, a bouquet of stations for regional languages including Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi and the 4 southern languages, and Radio Farishta.
The service would be available in UP (East and West), Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Mumbai, Bihar, Kerala, Rest of Bengal, Assam, North East, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Orissa, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Chennai circles.
The service would be available for Rs 30 per month along with 300 minutes of free usage.
