Volkswagen India today reported 151% increase in sales during July at 6,529 units as against 2,597 units in the same month last year.
The compact car Polo and the sedan Vento continued to be the backbone for the brand, with a total of 6,353 units sold in July 2011, the company said in a statement.
Volkswagen also sold 109 units of Jetta during the month.
The new Jetta is scheduled to be presented in India on August 17, 2011 in Mumbai, it said.
"We are pleased with the response received for our products especially the Polo despite the current market scenario," Volkswagen Group Sales India Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Neeraj Garg said.
This reflects the growing customer confidence towards the company's carline in the market, he added.
