Voltas Q2 net up 239%

Voltas has posted a net profit of Rs.18.85 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, a growth of 239 per cent compared with Rs 5.56 crore posted in the corresponding period last year.
 
Its operating profit rose 212 per cent to Rs 29.12 crore as against Rs 9.32 crore. Net sales rose by 60 per cent to Rs 476.10 crore as against Rs 297.33 crore. For the six months ended September 30, 2005, the company's net profit rose by 77 per cent to Rs 35.40 crore. Net sales for the period grew by 45 per cent to Rs 931.62 crore.
 
The company's performance was driven by strong growth in the electro-mechanical projects and services segment (89 per cent); and in the engineering agency and services segment (49 per cent).
 
Within the unitary cooling products for comfort and commercial use segment, the room airconditioner business has registered a volume growth of about 28 per cent.
 
Some of the recent orders won by the company include the Rs 365 crore Burj Towers, Dubai, the "world's tallest building", Rs 123 crore Wafi Hotel and Mall project, Dubai, the Rs 103 crore A&M College of Engineering, Doha, and the Rs 134 crore Hyderabad International Airport.
