Volvo 3P, a business unit within the Volvo Group, will now focus on building India as a base for truck product development aimed at supporting strategic expansion in Asia, while Volvo IT will increase its local sourcing from India as well as support its growing customers business in the country.
Said Anders Ydergard, "The Volvo Group's business is expanding in Asia and we see the strengthening of our activities here in Bangalore as way to support this growth. It is very clear that we are in the right place at the right time."
To better support its Asian customers, Volvo 3P has decided on a strategic expansion in Asia. The decision to choose Bangalore is based on proximity to the Asian market, a qualified English speaking workforce and the fact that Volvo's existing business operations are located in the city, the release said.
