VRL Logistics to invest Rs 4 bn to expand fleet, Leyland to supply chassis

Fleet addition is expected to commence by April 2019 and would conclude by December 2019, said the company

VRL Logistics Ltd is set to induct new trucks at a cost of around Rs 4 billion. The company will purchase truck chassis from Ashok Leyland Ltd for the additional fleet.

The company as on December 31, 2017 had 3,989 trucks under the Goods Transportation business segment. It proposed to increase the fleet size by adding 1200 customised trucks.

Investment in the additional fleet is expected to be around Rs 4 billion comprising of chassis cost around Rs 3.39 billion. And the rest will be spent on body building, registration, insurance and margin for contingencies.

The company said that it proposes to purchase truck chassis from Ashok Leyland Limited and would construct the truck bodies in-house.
