With an investment of Rs 30 crore, WAVE (Worthington Armstrong Venture) a manufacturer of suspended ceiling grid launched its first manufacturing facility in Talegaon near Pune. This company is a joint venture between Armstrong World Industries Inc. and Worthington Industries Inc.
It has a presence base of 5 countries with 7 manufacturing facilities, and the new facility spread across 5 acre will look at developing its operations in India and later will act as a supply base for Asia Pacific, Middle East and African markets. The India centre consists of three manufacturing lines which will manufacture a wide range of heavy duty and medium duty ceiling suspension systems in GI steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
The plant will also offer a full range of perimeter solutions like – range of extruded axiom and bandraster transitions in near future.
The ceiling suspension systems are used in commercial office spaces, banks, retail industry, hotels, airports, metro rails and educational institutions.
“Proximity to steel suppliers, better infrastructure and ready availability of skilled manpower are the key reasons for setting up the plant in Pune. The quality of raw material is also very good and that is also one of the important reasons why we considered this location," John Lamprinakos, President and CEO, WAVE to the reporters. India business of WAVE is growing at over 25% year-on-year. This makes it one of the fastest growth markets worldwide.
The facility boasts of a capacity of 43 million of linear meter/year. This is the company's eighth manufacturing facility that the Group has globally.
