NMIMS students will get to visit Welspun's solar and wind power plants across the country while the company's senior executives will lecture students of the institute through fixed-term visiting assignments on the nuances of this booming sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindoor Mittal, Director, Welspun Energy said, "The idea is to make renewable energy industry more accessible to the younger generation and help young graduates acclimatize to become fully effective employees in a short time span."

Commenting on the partnership, Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, said, "India has an aggressive growth plan to develop its clean energy portfolio. NMIMS believes in preparing students for tomorrow in high-growth industries and partnering with Welspun Energy will help us to maximize career opportunities in the renewable energy sector."

"While certain knowledge and skills are transferable, there are sector specific skills unique to renewable energy which will need to be developed. The partnership will help conceptualise and deliver highly specialized programs at NMIMS," he said.

This is Welspun Energy's second engagement with a leading education institution this year. It had established a lab at the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) and its collaboration with Pundit Deendayal Petroleum University will soon be mentoring students in solar power projects.

Over 218,036 million tonnes of carbon emissions are annually mitigated through Welspun Energy's 131 MW commissioned renewable capacity.

WEL will be commissioning Asia's biggest 150 MW solar project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh this year and an aggregate 200 MW capacity is presently under development.
