Noida-based consumer electronics company, Weston Electronics is planning to expand its operations across the country to make its presence felt nationally. |
The company, which mainly operates in north India, has launched new offices in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Chennai, Bangalore and Cochin. |
Apart from producing 19 models of colour televisions, six models of DVD players, a direct-to-home (DTH) TV and amplifiers among others, the company also plans to launch DVD recorders and microwave ovens by September this year. |
"We are on the verge of product expansion and are also thinking of putting up a new production plant, either in southern or eastern India in two months time," said Sunil Sethi, vice-president, marketing, Weston. |
Currently, the company has seven manufacturing units - two in Noida, three in Dehradun, one each in Mohali and Jammu. |
This would be Weston's first foray into Gujarat. Market demand for colour televisions alone is estimated to be around 6,00,000 units. "We expect to garner five per cent market share in a year's time and hope to consolidate our position as a serious player in the consumer electronics segment in Gujarat," said Sethi. |
The company has identified three dealers so far in the state - one each in Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Surat and are in talks with dealers of other regions as well. |
The company has recorded a turnover of Rs 60 crore in the last financial year on the back of rising demand for upper-end colour televisions and predicts a growth of 50 per cent considering its wider presence in the country. |
Recently, the company implemented the Ultimate One Chip (UOC) technology in its flat television range. The UOC system comes imbedded with screensaver technology, which would be a first in television technology, added Sethi. |
In addition to exports, the company also plans to widen its global network. Through exports to Europe, Germany, France, UK and West Asia, it has raked in Rs 37 crore as total revenues. |
