What Slym did at Tata Motors

After he joined the company in 2012, he gave the idea to reposition Nano in the Indian automobile market

Karl Slym, the Managing Director of Tata Motors, died in Bangkok this morning. After he joined the company in October 2012, he effected some crucial changes to its operations and gave the idea to reposition Nano.
 
1) He overhauled Tata Motors’ operations, ranging from manufacturing, sales, marketing to distribution and purchases.

2) He brought many of his teammates including Akunsh Arora from General Motors india to strengthen his core team at Tata Motors.

3) The idea of repositioning the Nano was mooted under him. Several new initiatives were executed by his team to bring customers back to the car.

4) Tata Motors launched the Manza club class, Safari Storme, several new variants and forms of Nano, new premium variants of Vista, Sumo Gold, to name a few.   
 
5) Slym is also credited with the next generation petrol engine Revotron that would power most of Tata's coming offerings to redress the company's lack of penetration in the gasoline market.
