Wheat processors to discuss policy initiatives for farmers and industry

Keeping in view the future projections and prospects for wheat and wheat-based industries, the Wheat Products Promotion Society, Roller Flour Millers’ Association of India, Society of Indian Bakers, All India Bread Manufacturers’ Association and Gujarat Roller Flour Millers’ Association plan to organise a seminar on ‘Wheat and Wheat Products-Towards Millennium Development Goals’ in Ahmedabad next month.

The growing market imperfections despite increasing acreage and per capita productivity and lack of value addition in wheat would be the on the main agenda on which the stakeholders plan to have brainstroming sessions.

The delegates from the realm of policy making to the grassroot farmers are expected to participate in the biennial event to be presided over by the Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay, scheduled to be held on 19-20 February in the Gujarat capital.

“With growing population, there is an imperative need to improve the nutritional levels of the people. The need of interface among the policy makers and industry is a must to maintain the food security in the country,” said chairman of the event Vinod Kapoor.
